You Know What? FRACK SCRANTON!

Yeah, I said it. And I'm not just saying  it because I live in the far awesomer SE portion of Pennsylvania (where, incidentally, Joe Biden is proudly considered our third Senator).

I say FRACK SCRANTON for the following two reasons:

Reason 1: The dread I'm feeling about the prospect of having to endure two more months of inane media blather about "scrappy," "Scranton" and "hard working/white."

This narrative is so last March, and data has since convincingly demonstrated that Scranton does not have a monopoly on scrappy, hard-working, blue collar or white. Plus, these themes have no place in a discussion of Obama's merits. McCain, on the other hand, has done a great job proving that he could never relate to people (hardworking, scrappy, white or otherwise) living in Scranton, Boise and pretty much anywhere else outside of"The Hills."

So, to you bobbing idiots on FOX, CNN and even MSNBC: unless you want to talk about how unpalatable mega-rich, uber-pampered diva freaks like McCain are to ordinary people like me, STFU ABOUT SCRANTON! You don't know s### about Scranton!

Reason 2: Scranton does not equal PA.

Obama has overwhelming support in the Pittsburgh area. In addition, Philadelphia (now featuring city money)-->the entire Southeast-->Lancaster-->Harrisburg -->PSU Country=OBAMA COUNTRY. And on the heels of the hotly-contested primary, the ground game will be off the mother fracking chain.

Translation: FRACK SCRANTON; Appalachia will not save McCain from the voters of this state!

To summarize:

  1. Biden=great pick overall, a local hero and sure to swing some PA votes.
  2. FRACK SCRANTON!

Re: You Know What? FRACK SCRANTON! (2.00 / 1)

As a native of Scranton, I take offense.

Also, while I think Obama will win Pa. (unless McCain chooses Tom Ridge) in the primary Obama won in three places -- Philly, the State College area, and Harrisburg (heavy AA pop.).  http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primari es/results/state/#PA  The rest of the state was solidly Clinton.

Having lived in Scranton and having visited throughout the state, Scranton is much more like the rest of Pennsylvania than SE PA is.  Scranton is a mini Pittsburgh.  Hillary carried Allegheny county (Pittsburgh) by 8%.

Biden will help marginally -- but Scrantonians I know never associated Biden with the area.  Hillary had family there that she visited.

Sorry, no offense intended, (none / 0)

I'm just sick of the meme. Biden is very popular in SE PA, which does have the highest population density of the entire state. Not that Obama needs his help here--we would've run up the score with or without him. But, it is good news, as Biden is to us as Obama is to northern Indiana.

Re: Sorry, no offense intended, (none / 0)

Wasn't AA turnout bad in Philly during the primary?

I seem to remember that.

Is the link in my diary not work? (none / 0)

Here, try it now: "Philadelphia (now featuring city money)"

Also, you seem to be mistaking McCain for Hillary. McCain is no Hillary. He will be lucky if he breaks 30% in the Philly region.

Re: You Know What? FRACK SCRANTON! (2.00 / 1)

No, we need to be proactive!

1.) Send Biden to Pennsylvania where he will bowl a perfect game.

2.) Send Biden to a diner where he will not ask for orange juice when offered coffee.

3.) Throw Biden into the Allegheny river on a raft named "Guns n' Religion" and, at some point, tip the raft such that Biden has to cling to it for the rest of his down river voyage.

I'm still working on the ultimate handbook to winning the blue collar white vote...suggestions appreciated.

Re: You Know What? FRACK SCRANTON! (2.00 / 2)

Uh...both Joe and Jill have PA roots which cannot hurt  It aslo helps to have Arlen Specter give you the thumbs up on your selection.
And since the Junior Senator is from Scranton and endorsed Obama.....

McCain is claerly eyeballing Pa and Ohio...but PA has got to look difficult right now
